Finding your community.
Because here’s the truth…
You can’t plan it.
You can’t force it.
And most of the time… it doesn’t happen right away.
🏡 Here's the truth:
Military life constantly resets your world.
New duty station
New routines
New people
And sometimes?
The people who felt like family… are suddenly gone.
We experienced that firsthand when our closest friends moved away overnight… and everything shifted.
đźš© The real challenge?
Starting over… again and again.
Between moves, deployments, pregnancies, and life transitions…
There were seasons where community looked like:
→ Work and home
→ A few dinners with friends
→ Or honestly… just surviving the day
Not exactly the “village” everyone talks about.
đź’ˇ What this means for you:
Community doesn’t just happen.
You have to:
→ Try things that might not work
→ Put yourself out there (even when it’s awkward)
→ Be willing to start over more than once
And that part? It’s hard.
🏡 Now let’s talk about the part most people don’t expect…
Sometimes the first place you land… isn’t the right fit.
We tried:
→ Different schools
→ Different gyms
→ Different churches
And some of them? Just didn’t feel right.
But that didn’t mean we were doing something wrong…
It just meant we hadn’t found our place yet.

Trial and error is part of the process.
The turning point for us?
→ A gymnastics facility that felt right
→ A preschool that completely changed our daughter’s experience
→ A church that truly poured into our family
That’s when everything started to click.
⚖️ A better way to frame your role:
If you’re in a season of starting over…
Don’t ask:
“Why hasn’t this worked yet?”
Ask:
“What else can I try?”
Because the right community might just be one more step away.
